I took this from Bird'seyeview:  Name a fandom, and I'll give you the scoop on at least three of my unpopular opinions related to that fandom.

Because my only fandom is HP, I like Bird'seyeview will alter the question.

I like Fleur and feel that JKR gave her some depth. It's subtly described but it is there. JKR cant' go into to much detail with Fleur's character, she is too minor, but she gives us some telling moments. I liked that she chose wedding colors for the Ginny and the other bridesmaids that looked good on a redhead and in a wedding party made up of a family of redheads. I liked that she was the beaubatons champion. The impact of which the movie ruined by making beaubatons a girl's school. That took away the fact that Fleur beat out boys for the position ( ... )

I thought Fleur had more depth myself. That's why I loved her scene at the end of the sixth book!

I did too. I also wasn't surprised by it. I thought her character had been set up before. (Her french accent can be annoying though. And just horrible to read in fic which is why I wouldn't write her unless I can pretend that she is speaking French and then write her in clear English or write tightly in her pov.)

Ooh, I'd love to hear your opinions on McGonagall.

My opinion on McGonagall isn't popular, but might be found in some parts of fandom ( ... )

It's common for readers to compliment McGonagall for encouraging Neville. I don't think she is very encouraging at all. What little she says is the minimum she could have done without being a nut. She speaks well of him after he has nearly been killed while helping Harry. It would have been crazy for her not to have said what she did. Harry who observes the conversation says that she never complimented him before. (Not exactly true in the fifth book she tells him that its lack of confidence that hurts his work which is encouraging if it isn't a compliment ( ... )

I definitely agree that she has these faults: she for sure picks favorites, and is not subtle when she does. And she is for sure a bit "snooty" (as would be indicated by the disliking-Parvati-because-of-her-butterfly-hairpiece thing) But I think some of these faults are what make her interesting. :)

I'll take Seamus

My thoughts on Seamus are wildly unpopular and differ from how I have almost always read him written by others. (I see Thanfiction's Seamus as Than's and not anything like JKR's for instance ( ... )

I never thought of that with Neville. Of course, they would be friends since they were the only ones left - I never thought that though.

I see him through thanfiction's eyes. I find that Seamus believable, but I also find the fandom ones of he being a hard drinker and womanizer (I do think that is an Irish stereotype though.) I more often than not see him with Lavender.

I agree with everything else you've said. He is a good friend, and would not stick his neck out if he didn't have to. I find him Hufflepuff loyal also.

Thanks. This was interesting to see inside your head. I notice that no one asked you about Neville.;-)

They were not just the only ones left, but they were fighting together and suffering under the Carrows together. If as JKR said you can't fight a Troll without becoming friends, you can't spend a year fighting the Carrows together without becoming close.

I see Draco as having been very affected by the events of his sixth and seventh year. The kid we see in book seven is on the edge of flying apart and is terribly conflicted between his need to protect his parents and his disgust with what being a Death Eater really means. This is a situation that is life changing. People will either be wrecked by this sort of thing or changed by it. I eally can't see him walking away from it the same person we see in book four and five. The kid in book five is excited to have the chance to see the Cruciatus curse used, while in book seven he's visibly horrified by it, even as he is forced to use it ( ... )

It was refreshing to have a lead character who loved to study and learn and who by studying and learning magic made study more romantic and fun.

This is one of the reasons I love Hermione. Even though Harry and Ron never really understand Hermione's relentless pursuit of knowledge, they respect her for it. She pushes them both to be better wizards, and she gets them out of quite a few tough spots.

That's interesting what you said about the possibility of Hermione being sorted into Slytherin. Many people question why she wasn't put in Ravenclaw, because in house shorthand, Ravenclaw just means smart, but I've never seen Slytherin mentioned for her. You brought up some really good points to support that. I think it's interesting that many people seem to gloss over that more ruthless side to Hermione.
