I took this from Bird'seyeview:  Name a fandom, and I'll give you the scoop on at least three of my unpopular opinions related to that fandom.

Because my only fandom is HP, I like Bird'seyeview will alter the question.

I like Fleur and feel that JKR gave her some depth. It's subtly described but it is there. JKR cant' go into to much detail with Fleur's character, she is too minor, but she gives us some telling moments. I liked that she chose wedding colors for the Ginny and the other bridesmaids that looked good on a redhead and in a wedding party made up of a family of redheads. I liked that she was the beaubatons champion. The impact of which the movie ruined by making beaubatons a girl's school. That took away the fact that Fleur beat out boys for the position.

Her faults, her complaints about british things, her preference for things she percieves as "better" are common in those visiting a foreign country where the adaption to foreign food, climate and mores start to irritate after they no longer charm. She is also right, most of the things she tries to change would be improved by her changes. (She was right about the color of the bridesmaids dresses.)

The fact that she didn't have a job at the end of the books I attribute to the war and the fact that she had to spend much of it in hiding. Did they really want another weasley working at the ministry?

I thought Fleur had more depth myself. That's why I loved her scene at the end of the sixth book!

I did too. I also wasn't surprised by it. I thought her character had been set up before. (Her french accent can be annoying though. And just horrible to read in fic which is why I wouldn't write her unless I can pretend that she is speaking French and then write her in clear English or write tightly in her pov.)

Argh, yes. Just say she had an accent. All the students probably have one to someone else - accents are a regional thing, not a country thing.

You are right. Living abroad a few months made me appreciate certain things I took for granted and also made me realise that things which are charming in the beginning can get on your nerves after a while.

The fact that she didn't have a job at the end of the books I attribute to the war and the fact that she had to spend much of it in hiding. Quite possible, but I could as well imagine the fact that she is a halfbreed playing an important role here.

I have to admit I wasn't a big fan of Fleur when I read the books but after some time reading fan fiction she has grown on me. I really like reading Bill/Fleur storied now. Unfortunately not many authors write this pairing among whom there are only few I agree with.

Yes, that is exactly it, we see her in-depth after things have begun to get on her nerves. I think your idea about being a halfbreed was a very good one.

How do you like to see her depicted in fanfic?
