Yes, Ralph Waldo Emerson, a Unitarian Universalist, advocated book burning because it usually drew attention to the book and made people curious about it. I think a lot of books that are now classics were once banned. I wouldn't advocate for burning books, though ( Read more... )

Yes, they're talking about Unitarianism on The Stephen Colbert Report! They came about it by talking about a book about oxygen which led to talking about Joseph Priestley whom the author calls "the forgotten founding father". "He co-founded the Unitarian church...
