Day 27: Cutest Moment

Spike and Buffy tickle me. They do from the very beginning. If they are on the screen together or even thinking about one another, things will get interesting. In Seasons Two, Three, and Four they tickle me. It's in Season Five where they start to hurt my heart with razor sharp blades. They switch to blunt instruments in Season Six, bludgeoning my heart to death with sorrow as they just barely fail to touch where they meet in the middle. Season Seven hurts my heart with a warm glowing pain. The whole interchange in "Touched" in the deserted house--from start to finish--that is the one moment in this series when it's sweet happiness instead of stinging sadness that brings tears to my eyes. I'm a sap and a hopeless Romantic--in the English Major 19th century literature movement sense of the word. To paraphrase:

"I'm a romantic--a sentimental person thinks things will last--a romantic person hopes against hope that they won't."
--F. Scott Fitzgerald

Paraphrasing Romanticism with the words of a Modernist--that sounds about right.
