Reading over my last post I realized that this is exactly how the day crystalized in my head but it left out some important detail that I feel bad for not recognizing.

Earlier in the day Sydney Li opened her birthday presents. She has decided to be a cowgirl when she grows up. Her Aunts both recognized this and gave her gifts that reflected it. A horse that you "wear" with suspenders to appear to ride from Aunt Erica. "Oh!" she screamed. I'm gonna sleep with you every night! She apparently thought it was a really skinny stuffed animal, not a costume. And a neon pink and shiny cowgirl costume from Aunt KiKi.

She cried when I wouldn't let her "ride" her pony all the way apple picking and since I have always instilled in my girls a fear of police arresting them if they cry and ruin someones birthday, well then I had to give in and let her wear her vest skirt and hat to the farm.

When the live music began ViVi wouldn't dance until someone else went out there. Apparently this is now considered embarasssing. Much like your mama kissing you in front of people. But Sydney Li thought they were her audience not the bands. She struck up a two step that not only enticed every child present to whine that thier parents didn't bring them dancing costumes (UH!) but also provoked the band to invite her up on stage to show off her moves and sing "Old McDonald." This brought down the house, literally, as every child flooded the stage for thier turn and every middle aged parent or grandparent rushed to steal MY SPOT (UH!) for taping the event!

And how does a girl in a floresent pink skirt climbing a tree still get mistaken for a boy?!?

Plus ViVi found an affection for teeny tiny under grown apples. Whether she plans of eating them or just felt sorry for them we still bought $15 worth.

Plus I love my inlaws. I shouldn't tease them. Three elderly, one pregnant and 6 kids is just overwhelmingly little help in carrying ten bags of apples three blankets and a cooler.

Plus Thomas was older and listened better than ever before.

Plus we brough more people this year and my adopted mother in law came. She is the mother of the woman everyone thought Vang was going to marry. And she loves me. She loves my kids because she loves me, not loves me because she loves my kids like my own inlaws do. If I could marry her daughter so she would be my mother in law I would. But her daughter just got married for the second time. The day before the wedding she asked Vang if he might choose her someday. Now we call Vang #3. It was great having them along.
I didn't have to carry anybody the whole day.
I didn't have to choke down one apple this year to set a good example.
No one spilled cider on me or peed thier pants. Definitly ou best year ever.

I love apple picking! I can't wait until next year!
