[BGM ‘Hit the floor’]
Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Every Friday I respond to the messages received on this show.
Today we have a round-up of submissions from worried wives. First up… looks like there’s quite a lot of ‘em. Yeah. Let’s get right down to it.
One from Rumiko-san, a housewife in her 40s from Itabashi, Tokyo.
“Ohno-kun, good morning. I have something I’m worried about which I can’t tell anyone. It’s really embarrassing, but I still can’t forget my ex-boyfriend. I was dating him since I was 20 until I was 30, then he got a new girlfriend and dumped me. Out of those 10 years, we lived together for 5 years. Now I’ve met my kind husband and we have two cute daughters and a blissful life, but occasionally I get miserable remembering him and end up crying. Please say a word to frail old me.”
Ahh, I see. Well, you dated for 10 years. And you even lived together for 5 years. You can’t erase those memories. But what’s important is the present. In whatever you do. Yeah. Well, you have a husband now and children too. It’d be fine just to immerse yourself in that, right?
There are those times that just happen. It’s no good working yourself up until you cry. Well, what’s important is the present. Yeah.
Right, moving one we have one from ‘I am Satomi’.
“Oh-chan, good morning. I just got married in October, so I’m a newlywed. Yesterday, I had a fight with my Oh-chan-jealous-Arashi-loving husband. Since I told him to shut up for always going on about Leader, without thinking, he said, “I’ve known you for 4 years, but I’ve known Arashi for 15. I’ve liked them for more than half my life so there’s no way you could win!” I felt pretty overwhelmed by that; was it my fault? Should I apologise?”
Man, that’s hard. (laughs) That’s a tough problem. But well, in my opinion, well, even though I’m flattered, but… right? It’s not a matter of whose fault it is. (laughs)
I mean, your husband likes Arashi, right? It’s just that the way he said that was funny - “I’ve known you for 4 years, but I’ve known Arashi for 15.” (laughs) That’s an interesting to be fighting about. This is funny. Man, please make up! I’m happy to support both of you, your husband too. Please! Just one thing, uh, don’t always go on about Leader. Your husband loves you, most definitely. Please make up and continue to support me!
Right, next up, one from Mayumi-san.
“Good morning. Today there’s something I’d like to apologise to Ohno-kun for. That is, my husband always flicks people on the forehead with Ohno-kun’s uchiwa. Even though I asked him to stop, he hasn’t. Ohno-kun, please say something.”
Mr Husband, why are you using my uchiwa to hit people? Do you lift up their fringe before you flick them? Or well, are you a little jealous? (laughs)
Just kidding. If you don’t do it much, I’m fine with that. I don’t have a problem with it. Like even if you scribble on it, that’s fine too. Flicking people, well, that kinda has a heavy and aloof feel to it. I think serious scribbles are more my style. But if you keep doing that, your wife will get mad.
Well, maybe if you strike a good balance, like if you pick your nose or something for a change. But well, thank you for your support!
Right, next from Erina-san
“Satoshi-kun, good morning. Thank you for your hard work every morning. I have a favour to ask of Satoshi-kun. We registered our marriage on November 29, the Good Meat day
[1], However, I can’t shake off my marriage blues. Please encourage me somehow. Satoshi-kun’s words have a magical power about them, so by all means, please help me.”
Do I? Hehhh…
Well, you’ve already registered. It’s already settled. It was your decision to get registered. It was your own decision. So in that case, in life, you have to prepare yourself. It’s not going to be all fun and games all the time. It’d be a waste. Mm. So you can definitely say you have no call but to keep moving forward. Yeah.
Well, as for me, I’ve never got married or got registered, so I wouldn’t know...(laughs) But let’s keep moving forward!
If you change yourself, things around you will change too. So good luck!
And so with that, the weekly Friday messages have been answered. I'll be awaiting your mail. The address is arashi@fmyokohama.co.jp. I'll be waiting for you to send me lots of messages.
See you next week; this was Ohno Satoshi!

[1] It’s a play on words, as 11/29 = (11) ii - (2) ni - (9) ku = ii niku (いい肉 / good meat).
