Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Here’s the thought of the day; come on!
"The past blooms into the present, which is full of buds of the future."
[BGM ‘Kansha Kangeki Ame Arashi’]
Ohh. That’s wonderful.
This is a quote by Kawai Kanjiro-san, a ceramic artist and poet who was based in Kyoto from the Taisho through to the Showa era. This was sent in by listener Nerori-san. The message goes:
“When I learned of this quote, I felt cheered up by the idea that my current self will be the buds of my future. Even if the past blooms, the present is like a garden already full of buds of the future. I feel that it’s a phrase brimming with hope, so I mailed in.”
So it is. Ohh. That’s the sort of feel it has. It’s great that it talks about buds. Like, it gives the image of flowers blooming. So in terms of seasons, it’s kinda like the rainy season. Like, once the rainy season passes, it becomes summer.
I just said something classy there. Although the fact that I said it myself doesn’t really make it classy or anything. I can’t just immediately point it out. (laughs)
Right, on that note. Um, today is Coming of Age Day. So all of you turning 20, congratulations.
Man, you’re adults, huh? Incidentally, Chinen-kun and Yamada Ryo-chan of Hey!Say!JUMP, and Nakajima Yuto-kun, too. I was surprised. Somehow it feels like Hey!Say!JUMP are already veterans, so it feels like they’ve been at it forever. They’re veterans, right? That’s the image I have of them.
Back in my day, it was when Arashi were formed. I think it was just about a year or so after we’d formed. And then I turned 20. Then, um, I appeared on TV. That was the first time I’d bought a suit. At that time, I was with Okadacchi of V6. And then Joshima-kun was there. Joshima-kun was 30 at the time. So just that once, it was the 3 of us. And then I’d never really been surrounded by the media like that before. That was the first time since I’d become Arashi, I think, probably.
“What should I say…” The questions were like, “So by turning 20, you’ve joined the company of adults” and like, “So what’s your type?” They were going there all of a sudden. So I didn’t really know what to say, so I went, “I’d like to date someone foreign”. So it just kinda happened like that. (laughs) And it was aired on TV. (laughs)
And then like it was kinda… My classmates at the time, I got a lot of messages from them. “Is that so?” they went. “No, I don’t know, I just kinda blurted it out” That was when I turned 20. Yeah.
So well, for this. There are 3 of them in Hey!Say!JUMP. I gotta send them a message to congratulate them. Yeah.
So for you new adults out there, once again, congratulations!
