Yes there are stars out there. Came home from work to find three letters/cards waiting for me and a gift card from the people I helped yesterday. The four young people -age about 10-12 all made cards for me.

I had an interesting conversation with a patient today. He's dying - lung cancer- smokers please quit!!! . He was quite concerned that I understand he did not want to die at home. Not sure why he started to talk to me about it- I'm not his regular nurse, but as you do, I let him carry on. Seems he doesn't want his ghost to be left in the house. ( Read more... )

Very depressing cases today, all dying, all younger than me.

Each morning, I call the people i need to see that day.   At one home today, daughter answers phone. Tells me mum will not be coming home from hospital today. I get her to write down my number. Feel achy all over. Don't have time or $$ to waste on being sick. shoos flu bugs away Day off Tuesday- Tamiflu in cupboard- so If I get a fever will be taking it asap.
Went to town earlier- Boxing day sale- 19" flat screen TV- $110- not bad RCA. Just the right size for me- not a fan of HUGE TV's even before they had flat screens.

A few weeks ago I bought over the net- an upgrade disk for my mac- Leopard. Specifically asked the seller if it was the disk with the big X on it. He said "Oh, yes." The envelope arrives- badly packed- no cardboard to back the disk, no return address.. Disk is not as advertised, but I try it. It won't mount on the computer. I tried a few times, ( Read more... )

Stupid and insensitive people on the weight-loss forum- winner for today- complaining that her vacation to Mexico plans have to be altered due to resort closing after an explosion. sighs- the internet seems to be infected with the nasties.
