A good friend has sold a novel, and a close grad school friend wins a prestigious screenwriting award on the same day. And earlier this month, one of my closest friends published her first co-authored neurology paper as part of her graduate program. So filled with happy right now it's almost overwhelming. The Hugo Awards 2011 results. Saddened The Dervish House didn't take the Best Novel gong, but Ted Chiang's win made me happy as I really enjoyed Lifecycle and I think Lev Grossman's win portends well for the future desegregation of speculative and literary fictions. Just got the announcement that Alan Smale's "A Clash of Eagles" featured in Panverse Two won the Sidewise Award for Alternative History in the Short-Form category. Wonderful news for Alan and also for this wonderful anthology series that seems to be stacking creds like racks on racks on racks.
