Today, at 11:48am, Ken Meyer died while sledding. This is a huge blow, a total shock to me. Of all my friends' fathers, Dutch's dad was so far and above "the coolest" that I considered him more of my friend than "my friend's dad." Hellboy 2 disappoints. It's just kind of all-over-the-place, and I admit I stopped reading the comics after a while, but this felt like it was nothing to do with Mignola's universe and was a reaction to the popularity of Tolkien, Harry Potter, and Pan's Labyrinth. Apparently Dutch expects me to blog-eulogize all the dead celebrities he knows. He's upset I missed Bernie Mac. Nothing against the man, he seemed very likable, but he never really won my heart. Then he died, somewhat young. And it is sad.

Speaking of writing through distractions, today I broke down and rented some new releases from Movie Madness, and then broke down and watched them immediately.
