Speaking of writing through distractions, today I broke down and rented some new releases from Movie Madness, and then broke down and watched them immediately. I watched the Branagh/Law/Caine/Pinter Sleuth with rapt attention (actually better the second time, though still an imperfect Act III, made up for in my opinion by such a fucking cool Act I), then I put on No Country For Old Men and watched it in the background while I wrote the Corbeau Sequence. Only a movie I love so well that's already so fresh in my mind as that would I be able to do that to. I wished I'd had Millers Crossing to follow it up with, actually.

P.S. I wish I could say I was previously aware of his work, but I wasn't. Nonetheless, is it weird to say I love having a livejournal friends page where two different people notify me of comic artists who die? No disrespect meant.
