The ants go marching two by two...

Two ants in my bathroom today. Took care of one; the other disappeared before I could. Which means it's going to jump out at me tomorrow morning. And that's more than you wanted to know about the insect life of my bathroom.

Sickness is getting worse, not better, which means tomorrow I'm gonna stay home. I might not be quite at the point of sickness I'm usually at before I stay home, but--if I don't stay home tomorrow, I'll probably have to stay home on Thursday, and that would be Very Bad because I'd have no more time to work on the play I'm directing in Hoover's class. My actors are gone tomorrow anyway, so it's a perfect day for me to not be there.

At this point I'm not sure how much I can blame the cats, though--I mean, it's their fault I started down this path of coughing and wheezing, but there comes a point where I just have to accept that my body is unwell all by itself.

Anyway. I forgot to mention this yesterday, but I have a new desktop background again.

So, Tony award nominations. In The Heights got thirteen, yo. Of course, the only one I was actually interested to see was that Robin de Jesús got a nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. I know people who know Robin, so I feel kind of special now.

Xanadu got four--it got nominated for Best Musical, which is awesome, but I don't think it has much of a chance of winning what with In The Heights sitting there; Best Book of a Musical, which is what I'd hoped it would get, so yay, I hope it wins; Best Choreography, which I wasn't expecting, but sure, it deserves it; and my favorite, Best Leading Actress in a Musical for Kerry Butler. Woot! Considering the others nominated include such names as Patti LuPone and Faith Prince, I doubt she'll win, but still--woot!

It's kind of fun to read some historical Tony facts--like the shows that were nominated for 11, but didn't win a single one (one of them, I don't remember which, was because A Chorus Line won them all instead, hee--the dangers of two high-profile excellent musicals in the same season!) or the actual most-nominated show--The Producers at 15. But it "only" won 12 because the rest were competing with itself...!

To close, I want to quote broadway.com about the 2004 Tony awards: "Not one pundit predicted Best Musical winner Avenue Q would take home that award, all of them predicted Wicked."
