Third chemo session

Jan 26, 2014 01:49

I had my third chemotherapy session last Friday, January 24.  This time I had a visit with my oncologist first, and I told her about the drug Benadryl causing me to have a restless leg syndrome reaction.  My oncologist changed that antihistamine to the drug Claritin instead.  It was an improvement.  While I was getting the infusion, my legs didn't ( Read more... )

Every other patient there was offered sandwiches but me. They're playing games, but I don't know what the point of them is.

I originally bought the Benadryl for my mother's dog Patty, who gets hives from her yearly shots at the vet's office.

I don't understand why I'm treated differently than other patients at the hospital. I'm there to hopefully get well, not play any kind of games.

I don’t have any dietary restrictions at all.

During the last treatment, a woman (not a patient) with a sort of sixties hairdo kept walking up and down the aisle. Each time she passed she made deliberate eye contact with me. I'd smile and wait for whatever she wanted from me, but silence was all I got. I feel like I'm in a Fellini movie.

Hi Valerie, I resurrected my livejournal so I could reply to you here. I'm so sorry you're going through this and am outraged on your behalf by the treatment you're receiving from the nurses, as if what you're going through isn't difficult enough. I hope you will speak up and call them on if if it happens again, or just ask for a sandwich even if they don't offer one.

How many chemo sessions do you have to have?

Hope things get better soon

Vicky

Hi Vicky. Thank you for your kind words. I'm perplexed and yes, angry about the treatment I've received at that hospital. Fortunately, I've only got one more chemo treatment to go.

I'll be bringing my *own* lunch from now on. Screw them.
