Day 1, Istanbul Trip

When we arrived at Turkey, we used the train and tram system to get to where our hotel was. It was fine, barring the last few stops where I think some guy was trying to cop a feel at my butt.

One of the first few thoughts getting out - cats! Cats everywhere! So many fluffy adorable cats! And they all look quite well cared for, despite being strays. So we rolled our bags behind us to the direction where we thought our hotel was, up and down little alleyways and streets, seeing all the hotels except ours. We ended up wandering for about half an hour. In the end, a nice guy helped us out, and walked in the direction which was the opposite of where we went =_= I was like, 'this was not how I read the map. I am so disoriented right now'. Goes to show, I am not to be trusted with directions.

I like how colourful some of the buildings are.

The 'view' outside the hotel balcony.

After settling our things down in our hotel room, we both admitted we were hungry and went out to find somewhere to eat. We just went to a little cafe close by. A cat came by our table. I didn't give it any of our food but I was so tempted. It was just sitting there so politely, looking, and then moving on when no scraps were forthcoming.

I had orange tea - it tasted like caaaaannnddyy~~ ^0^

Food? No? Thanks anyway.

Afterwards, we walked around a bit before deciding to go to the Grand Bazaar. It's so big! So many stuff to look at! They kept trying to guess where we were from but they all got it wrong. Figures, since when I changed my currency, they were practically scratching their heads at it. It's a multilingual bunch in there, though. I heard a few 'How are you, darling?'s in our language.

Bracelet? No? How about a pistol?

We walked some more after we left that maze of shops, and the farther we went, the more it seemed apparent we were leaving the tourist side and entering more of the local areas. It was interesting just walking around, looking at the building, the shops, etc. It's the kind of place I appreciate, with the cobbled streets, close buildings, nooks and crannies. Though the tiny streets make navigating a vehicle more suited to experts.

Also, my sis got bird poop on her that first day. It would not be the only time...
