Day 0, Istanbul Trip

My trip to Turkey has officially started! And I'm... in the wrong country?

So here it goes.

It didn't start off so well. Our ride to the airport was late but it turned out fine as the driver broke his speed record to get us there on time (I was going to say he broke a bunch of traffic laws, but in Malaysia, I think that's par for the course).

I forgot how I really don't like long haul flights. I had to force myself to go to sleep to stop the nausea. Even after traveling on a plane multiple times, now and then I will still get air sickness. And people were farting everywhere - it was just unpleasant. And for some reason, once I spend a bit of time at an airport, I start feeling empty and depressive and uncomfortable in my skin; that part's just weird.

When we arrived at our first transfer stop, turns out our plane was late due to the weather and our next plane had already gone off :( So we had to be placed on a different flight and arrive a day later than planned. It's not their fault. So they put us up at the Grand Doha Hotel (this technically means I can tick another country off my travelled list since I've ventured out of the airport :P it counts!).

The sucky thing is that when I do get to Istanbul, I'll have to figure out a new transport mode to get to our hotel since that was previously booked. Also, I am so so glad that my hotel booking for the first night is separate from the rest of my nights in Istanbul, which happened because I made my booking on the wrong date. If it had all been in one booking, my entire booking would've been cancelled because of my no show. Hundreds on dollars down the drain!

Then when we were sent back to the airport, waited for an two hours, then went to the counter only to find out that our tickets weren't booked by the airline. We had to go back and forth on that. In the end, we made the flight, thank goodness.

Hello, Turkey.

//Basically the second flight...

Next entry: butt groping and getting lost.
