Well, after a whole lot of difficulties and rain,
project_mayhem_ made it to Indy from Chicago at about 6:30 in the morning. The poor boy drank some coffee at our house, caught a short nap in the stands of the raceway while the motorcycles whizzed past, and then let us drag him around town for the rest of the evening.
While the boys went to the races, I stayed at home and sorted through my brother's stuff with my folks. It was hard seeing all of his belongings, especially things that I had grown up around, be sorted into piles to go the the trash or to be given away. I'm keeping a few items that I just can't bear to part with, but I'm trying to remind myself that keeping his things is not the same as keeping him in my heart.
In the evening, we met up with a friend we had met in Korea and
my_small_space for Korean food. The four of us reminisced about the ol' Dae Han while
project_mayhem_ and my friend Jill looked on in confusion and submitted to our demands to make silly toasts with soju. The bill at the end was far more than we were used to paying for Korean food (fifteen dollars for soju?), but the outing was well worth it.
