I don't take off annual leave days often. This is because I mostly want to feel like they have gone to good use rather than just to take a random day off. Then, when I want to take a real vacation, I've got plenty of accumulated leave to use.

Today we went driving around in the mountains near Golden, Colorado. We found several geocaches and saw some spectacular scenery. ( Here's a photo of Toby on the road to the Golden Gate Canyon State Park )

Today we went up to Estes Park, Colorado, a gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Of course we had to stop by for a visit to the Stanley Hotel, the inspiration for Stephen King's The Shining. This hotel wasn't used in the classic Kubrick film, but did serve as the set for the 1997 ABC television miniseries ( Read more... )

Toby and I spent this past weekend in Savannah. We went down for the wedding of James and Amy, and, while there, took the opportunity to see the sights and enjoy the first weekend of Spring 2008.
