Wow, I've really dropped the ball on posting recently.

The family took my dad to The Lobster Trap recently for his 73rd birthday. He gave it a Vodka Martini rating of 7/10, unusually low for a fairly expensive seafood restaurant. The white wine, on the other hand, went very well with the lobster.

We traditionally include a cheetah and a tiger (from the zoo set) in our Nativity scene. My mother strongly disapproves. This year they are disembowelling a sheep. The other sheep are too busy to notice.

I've been taking my dad to medical appointments since the beginning of November. He gets there and back more easily, and seems to appreciate having a "secretary" there. It generally works well, but can be frustrating. My mom has gone in the past, but this is not always ideal. In the interests of medical privacy, I'll leave it at that ( Read more... )

My brother Laurence is getting married tomorrow. New experiences for me include (don't read if meat grosses you out):

• getting a manicure
• having a full-body spray-on tan (to cover up "farmer's" shirtsleeve tan and pimples all over shoulders. I figured why the hell not give it a try, for once in my life I can say I tried it.)

Mission(s) accomplished on 4 1/2 hrs sleep:
- Drive dad in 1988 Isuzu Trooper 30 minutes to Pickering, happily flapping hand out window to compensate for broken left rear indicator light when merging on highway and changing lanes.
