Yay! The Doctor's Wife won the 2011 Nebula Award! (More precisely, the Ray Bradbury Award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation). Which is only good and proper!

Yay!

And the novel that won (Jo Walton's Among Others) is on my bedroom dresser in the waiting-to-be-read pile. :)

...but I just seem to have fallen head over heels for Community. How can I have missed this show? Finally, a show set in a school, for ADULTS*. Or, finally, a show that goes so far overboard that it's the Farscape of comedy shows. Yesrday evening I used one of my cinema vouchers to go and see The King's Speech, which was a wonderful film with outstanding acting. Touching and funny -- and I realised once again how much I've benefited from watching a lot of English-language TV shows and films without subtitles, because when there was a joke or some humour that the subtitler ( Read more... )

I've started rewatching Cowboy Bebop. It really is most excellent. I wish it existed in a Swedish DVD edition, because Swedes know how to make working subtitles and then I could watch it in the original Japanese with good subs. But the English dub is pretty good too.

The second episode of Moffat's Sherlock is called The Blind Banker. And unfortunately it disappoints. It's not written by either Moffat or Gatiss, but by Stephen Thomson.
