I guess the thing is that if the Captain of the Dutchman could find a love that would be true his cures is broken, but Davey's love was not so he was stuck and then he went rogue and got all tentacally and such.
This here post http://kaellana.livejournal.com/47483.html talks all about it.
But for the sake of this fic I went to the darkside, otherwise I tend to agree with her.
I'd love it if you read the other one I wrote, let me know what you think. :) http://thegranddewru.livejournal.com/99177.html

I like to believe in the broken curse, because 10 years apart is bittersweet, forever is just bitter.

That would most definitely be the darker side the curse. And what wonderful insight, dear! I love that they still have an eternal connection, but . . . oh, poor Will! Never truly being able to share his love with her. And poor Elizabeth -- never understanding why she feels drawn to a man she may never see again.
Even if it is more bitter than sweet, it was still a brilliant story.
(Tell me she recognizes him ten years later!)

I think he could get away with another ten years, but when she's fourty and he shows up still looking 25 or whatever, he'd have some explainin' to do!

For instance, upon re-reading your story, I found it interesting that there was no mention of Jack. (I should first say that I think this was proper storytelling on your part, which is probably why I did not miss him the first time through. You did an excellent job keeping the focus of the fic where it belonged: on Will and Elizabeth and their connection over the centuries.) However, although Jack really had no place in the action here, in retrospect I find it interesting that any thoughts of him were absent from Will's reminiscence. This gave rise to a few questions ( ... )
