I have survived!

Mondays are generally the crappiest days of the week, but this one wasn't actually so bad.  And here's why:
  1. For the first time in ages, I didn't have to put up with any annoying people at work.  When I got to work this morning, I was so exhausted.  Then I found out that C, the most disorganized and annoying person a person could ever work for, was still in town (he usually works out of his home office in Wyoming - for which we are all grateful), and I thought I was going to have a horrible day.  Except, I was assigned a task that took priority over everything else, and this turned out to be a very good thing.  C came over and asked me to do him a "favor" this afternoon, which means he wanted me to do something that either he or his secretary could have easily done themselves, but they can't be bothered.  My response was to look at him.  Just as I was about to (very relunctantly) say, "Sure," (because how can you say "no" to a partner?) he saw what was in my hand,  and said, "Oh nevermind, you need to work on that.  I'll ask someone else."  Hurrah!  If only he always be so easily rebuffed.  I wonder when he's going back home . . . .
  2. There's another status conference for one of the cases I'm working on in Philly tomorrow morning.  I feared having to go because the last two times I've gone they've been an absolute waste of time and money.  Therefore, I was reluctant to remind R (my supervising attorney) of it, but my conscience got the better of me.  Fortunately, when I mentioned it, she said I didn't have to go.  Hurrah!  (Also nice is I won't have to wake up at the butt-crack of dawn to catch the train.)
  3. I didn't have to wait half an hour for the bus home.  Although we did have to wait at one stop because some girl asked the bus driver to wait for her tardy friend (which I thought very annoying and rude, as the rest of us wanted to go HOME and my own stomach was growling from hunger pains) and the bus driver actually agreed!!!  It's at times like these that you wish you had a really mean bus driver - the kind that pulls away from the curb even as you're running after it and hitting the sides of the bus, heh.  Anyhow, the friend never showed up anyway.  So we sat for ten minutes for NOTHING.  And the girl ended up sitting next to me on the bus.  I was very tempted to knock her onto the floor.  But that would've been mean.
  4. I still have cake leftover to satisfy my sweet tooth tonight.  Speaking of which, I think I had frosting withdrawal at work today.  After I made my cake this weekend, I still had half a can of frosting leftover so I've been dipping into it every so often over the weekend.  (Talk about a perpetual sugar high.)  Anyhow, I was seriously craving my frosting at work today!  Sad.  So sad.
  5. Most excitingly, I got my Christmas present from bijoux !!!!!  I have such wonderful friends.  She got me a book, The Time Traveler's Wife, a cookbook, A Barefoot Contessa Cookbook: Barefoot in Paris, and the most awesomest pillow ever made (because she made it herself).  It's bee-yoo-tee-full and also has my favorite quote from P&P on it, "Think only of the past as its remembrance gives you pleasure."  Thanks, bijoux !  I <3 my present.  :)
