Sam was flying. Okay, technically he was floating, hovering at best, but it was still awesome. He'd awoken to find himself floating above his bed, then when he freaked out at realizing that had happened, he crashed through it ( Read more... )

It wasn't until Zell started to move that Sam even realized he had landed on someone. Flailing a bit he scrambled out of the way, only to see a... something with arms and legs flailing and squirming around.

If that wasn't weird enough, it was... talking. Or at least there were speech bubbles with cartoon profanity coming out of the part that Sam would guess would be his mouth. It was by far the weirdest thing he had seen, even on the island.

"What the- holy shit what are you?"

When the thing, which was apparently Zell, actually spoke and Sam jumped back even more. It sort of looked like Zell, blondish, with something that might be a tattoo on what might be a face.

"Zell? I just fell out of the sky, how the hell are you not dead?"

With the day getting weirder and weirder, I shouldn't have been surprised to see someone fall out of the sky like a meteor and make a crater on the ground. Shouldn't have, but was. In fact, I freaked out, thinking to myself, "ohmygod! ohmygod! Are you all right?"

Which is what I said, rushing forward, upon seeing Sam flat on his back on the ground. "Oh my god! Oh my god! Are you all right?"

Sam very carefully patted himself down, checking to make sure that everything worked, or at least was all there. He seemed to be okay, other than his clothes were completely ruined.

That was when someone ran up shouting. And then shouted again, the same thing. Blinking and waving away the dust, Sam saw a shape through the haze.

"Polly?" he asked, struggling to sit up. "I'm, actually I think I'm okay."

"Are you sure?" I said, thinking to myself, you've got to be kidding me. Look at the dent you left. But then it hit me. "So you've got powers too? Are you like Zell? Nothing can hurt you?"

I really hoped that this didn't include the ability to shoot smoke out his ears, or twirl with the speed of a Tazmanian Devil. The things Zell and I had shared this morning were unforgettable, but I could have done without those two parts.

"No, I'm not kidding," Sam said, shaking his head as he climbed out of the hole. It was only then that he realized that his... modesty was just barely covered. Awkwardly, he pulled the tatters of his shirt down to around his waist.

"And seriously, really I so, so do not need to know about what you and Zel did this morning."

From on high, there came a bubble. It was large, easily big enough for the figure within to be able to stand comfortably, tinted yellow, and smelled faintly of lemons. It floated gently down to the ground (from where, exactly, wasn't obvious) at a leisurely pace, hovered there for a few seconds, and then disintegrated, leaving Felix to hop down onto the ground, grinning broadly at the young man who'd just made such a unique entrance of his own.

"Watch the last step, it's a doozy!" he exclaimed with a laugh as he stood at the edge of the dip in the earth, once he was certain no one was injured. Not everyone could be as adept in mastering their abilities from beyond as he was, after all.

"I think it was the first one that really got me," Sam groaned, struggling to sit up. Someone obviously had a better control over their powers than Sam did. He would have been jealous except for a floating yellow bubble didn't seem all that cool. Maybe more practical and not as difficult to control, but not as cool. Or maybe the other guy was just more reasonable about all of this than Sam was.

"You smell like Lemon Pledge or something."

"I know, isn't it great?" Felix asked, nodding exuberantly. He'd been a little concerned when the first bubble had come into being, terrified of the mess it would make when it popped, but it had turned out to be a very tidy power, on the whole. Of course, he'd expect nothing less from himself.

"Uh, sure, I guess, if you're into that," Sam said. Apparently, this guy was into that, which was perfectly fine for him. Could be worse.

"Did you have that power back home?"

It was a meteor! Edward had found a big meteor CRASH and like her father's daughter she rushed towards it, arms outstretched like an airplane. She didn't have a map of the island, but she could remember where it was and find one to update later. The Father-person would like that, he'd be proud of her. Edward liked that idea.

Only when Edward looked, there wasn't a rock in the hole. It was a person. "Awwwww. That's not fun."

"I agree," Sam groaned, pressing a hand to his head.

It was slightly soar, a mild headache, but considering how bad he could be feeling, he didn't think he should complain too much. Still, he didn't think the boy (or was it a girl?) should sound quite so disappointed. They could have at least admitted that he had looked cool.

"Why'd you fall down?" Ed was perplexed, how had he fallen like that? That wasn't normal, it wasn't right. People didn't go up like that unless they were falling from ships and that always ended in dead.

"How'd you get up there, flying man?"

"Because if I went up, then it wouldn't really be falling?" Sam suggested. It was kind of a ridiculous question, but the... person seemed nice enough so he held off a bit on the sarcasm.

"And I floated up."

Rory had seen something falling through the sky. It was a weird enough day all around that he had been tempted to ignore it and move on. But he was close enough that he distinctly heard the object scream in panic as it hurtled toward the ground and that he felt the tremor of the impact. That effectively put him in the middle of things, didn't it? He didn't have a choice to move on.

He ran toward the disturbance, and didn't have to go very far before he found the crater. "You alright?" he called to... Well, that was definitely a person, though worse for wear. "I'm a nurse. Is it-- Have you broken anything?"

Sam hurt, but only a little bit and it was mostly his pride. No, no, it was mostly his head that hurt. Then his shoulder, and then his pride. Really he didn't hurt anymore than if he had fallen out of his bed.

"No, no, I'm fine," Sam said, coughing as he tried to wave away the smoke. "I- oh hell. You."

"Fine?" Rory repeated, but with the tight, skeptic voice of a disbeliever. "Look, you just fell out the sky. Maybe you're not-- Oh."

The smoke started to part and dissipate for Rory too, and he got an eyeful of that rude bloke who always managed to give him a hard time at parties. Wonderful.

But Rory was nothing if not professional. He glanced away, giving himself a moment to curse silently, then back down at the man. "D'you need a hand?" he managed.

"It's my power, I can change how heavy I am," Sam explained, twisting a bit to make sure that everything was okay.

"I made myself really light, then accidentally became super dense. I think I was pretty much invulnerable when I hit the ground. And thanks, but I don't have the best control yet and I don't know if I can adjust other people's density."
