Sam was flying. Okay, technically he was floating, hovering at best, but it was still awesome. He'd awoken to find himself floating above his bed, then when he freaked out at realizing that had happened, he crashed through it

Rory had seen something falling through the sky. It was a weird enough day all around that he had been tempted to ignore it and move on. But he was close enough that he distinctly heard the object scream in panic as it hurtled toward the ground and that he felt the tremor of the impact. That effectively put him in the middle of things, didn't it? He didn't have a choice to move on.
He ran toward the disturbance, and didn't have to go very far before he found the crater. "You alright?" he called to... Well, that was definitely a person, though worse for wear. "I'm a nurse. Is it-- Have you broken anything?"
Sam hurt, but only a little bit and it was mostly his pride. No, no, it was mostly his head that hurt. Then his shoulder, and then his pride. Really he didn't hurt anymore than if he had fallen out of his bed.
"No, no, I'm fine," Sam said, coughing as he tried to wave away the smoke. "I- oh hell. You."
"Fine?" Rory repeated, but with the tight, skeptic voice of a disbeliever. "Look, you just fell out the sky. Maybe you're not-- Oh."
The smoke started to part and dissipate for Rory too, and he got an eyeful of that rude bloke who always managed to give him a hard time at parties. Wonderful.
But Rory was nothing if not professional. He glanced away, giving himself a moment to curse silently, then back down at the man. "D'you need a hand?" he managed.
"It's my power, I can change how heavy I am," Sam explained, twisting a bit to make sure that everything was okay.
"I made myself really light, then accidentally became super dense. I think I was pretty much invulnerable when I hit the ground. And thanks, but I don't have the best control yet and I don't know if I can adjust other people's density."
"Oh," Rory said, then realized how dumb that sounded all on its own. "Well that's.. interesting." Even stupider. Well played, Williams.
"And thanks," he threw in, almost as an after thought as he rubbed his hands on his jeans. "I like my density just how it is, so.. that's for the best."
Sam didn't pick up on how ridiculous Rory sounded, because he only just realized how stupid he had sounded a moment ago.
"Yeah, no problem," he said, pushing himself up to a sitting position and waiting to see if his head was going to fall off or something. "I, uh, I didn't just explain my power as getting 'super dense' did I?"
"Adjust my specific gravity?" Sam said, testing out how it sounded. Not too bad, actually. Maybe not entirely correct, but it sounded better than "become really dense" that was for sure.
Very, very carefully, Sam thought lighter thoughts and jumped forward, drifting out of the crater until he brought himself back down. His feet hit with a heavy thud and he tried to get back to normal.
"And now I'm pretty much half naked. Maybe three-fourths naked."
It wasn't nice to laugh at other people's misfortunes, but this bloke had never been particularly nice to Rory, so he didn't think it was so terrible to snicker at the situation. He hid it behind a hand that he scrubbed over his face, pretending to think it over.
"Should probably work on fixing the density of your clothes, too," he suggested. "Think the clothes box is handing out superhero suits for this weekend?"
Sam gave Rory a small smile, the laugh somewhat infectious even if it was at his own misfortune. If he was honest it was a pretty amusing misfortune.
"Yeah, I don't think I really have the physique for spandex. Or leather. Mostly just jeans and a shirt. Could probably rock a cape, but does a cape really go with jeans and a shirt?"
"Depends who you ask," Rory replied, bordering on sincere. He and Amy had differed greatly on their opinions of Rory's dress-up clothes when they were kids.
"You'd probably just look like an overgrown child though," he admitted, falling back on his own personal opinion.
"I bet around here I could just wear it and most people wouldn't say anything," Sam said. This place was weird enough that people just might let it slide.
"On the other hand, it would be handy to have about now to try and wrap around my waist or something. Maybe that's why superheroes have them. Emergency cover up."
"I think they probably take this sort of thing into account when choosing their outfits in the first place," Rory reasoned.
He hesitated, toeing the edge of the crater with his trainers before finally unzipping the lightweight jacket he'd worn in case of one of the island's impromptu showers. "D'you want this?" he offered. It wasn't exactly a cheerful offer, but Rory didn't go about it sullenly like a complete child. "Or I could run to the Compound for you. Well.. not run. Quick walk, more like."
Sam reached out to take the jacket and then hesitated. It wasn't that he didn't want to take Rory's jacket, although the other man might see it that way. He wasn't so petty that he would reject a kind offer like that. Well, not all the time.
"Uh, I'm probably going to wrap it around this area," Sam said, gesturing to his waist. "So if you like that jacket and want it back..."
Rory stared at him for a long moment and realized, though they really weren't that far apart in physical age, Rory had grown far past the point where he gave a damn.
"I'll survive," he assured him with a slight frown. "I can get another jacket from the clothes box if I'm really desperate. I'm not picky."
"I'll look for one for you that's like this," Sam said, taking the jacket from Rory and wrapping it around his waist. He felt slightly less exposed now that at least one side of him was securely covered.
"So did you get any crazy powers today? Magic dice hand or something like that? Laser eyes?"
He ran toward the disturbance, and didn't have to go very far before he found the crater. "You alright?" he called to... Well, that was definitely a person, though worse for wear. "I'm a nurse. Is it-- Have you broken anything?"

"Yeah, you did," he confirmed. "Should probably practice a different explanation for that."
