S.N.A.P.E. Contest

Posters! They convey simple, would-be persuasive messages in stunning graphic form. From Toulouse-Lautrec's treatments of the Moulin Rouge to Russian Constructivism to Chinese revolutionary propaganda to 60's rock show ads, posters are as much a part of culture as any "fine" art.

This month's Society for Nonsensical ArtPad Enthusiasts (S.N.A.P.E.) challenge will be to turn an existing Muggle poster into a convincingly persuasive poster for any aspect of the Wizarding World. The poster should feature the astonishing Severus Snape; be funny; be made using ArtPad or a similar online program; and be posted in this entry. Addition of other HP characters and addition of dialogue are optional.

The deadline for submission is Friday, June 2. The winner will be announced on June 3.

Contest guidelines and winners from June through November 2005 can be viewed at the S.N.A.P.E. website.

ETA: It is highly recommended that you save a screen shot of your work, as ArtPad can flake out unexpectedly. To print the screen:

For a PC: Alt-PrintScreen (button next to F12 on my computer), then open Microsoft Paint (under Accessories) and Paste.

For a Mac: Shift-Apple-3 will make an image file on your desktop, then you can print it -- don't know about saving it, but I assume so.

_vocalion_’s March 2006 guidelines are much more detailed for the PC and offer a Mac alternative, courtesy of

Tell your friends (and apologies if I am missing anyone usually on the list of recipients).
