S.N.A.P.E.: Time to pass the torch

May 06, 2006 09:12

Yes, it’s that time again, folks!

First, I’d like to thank all those who entered April’s S.N.A.P.E. contest; your hilarious entries made a hectic month a lot more bearable! But now-the moment we’ve all been waiting for…

The Society for Nonsensical ArtPad Enthusiasts is proud to present the winners of the April S.N.A.P.E. contest:

The Grand Prize* and the opportunity to host May’s contest go to the_bitter_word for his or her entry:

Dance School

(Click here to see the artist in action.)

I think the thing that really grabbed me about this picture was the clever combination of canon dialogue, the only slightly altered image (and what a perfectly hysterical alteration it was!), and the altogether beautiful painting. And, hey, it contained my three favorite Harry Potter characters: Snape, Neville, and Remus.

Running a close second,* penguin2006 had me practically rolling on the floor with her

Dance of the Sugar Plum Death Eaters:

We all know who’s standing front and center, but, for another laugh, here’s Penguin’s tongue in cheek description of Snape’s lovely back-up dancers: “...from left to right that's Crabbe (apple of the Dark Lord's eye), Lucius Malfoy (golden goodness), Narcissa Malfoy (a luscious pear) and Voldemort (the plum of the crop).”

Other gorgeous entries include

sylvanawood’s L’arachnide

Isn’t Snape especially pretty here?

alucardsnake’s Hopeless

Those ballet shoes are just precious!

penguin2006’s Snape and Draco in Hiding (or: the Pits of Despair)

and, by our illustrious winner, the_bitter_word’s Untitled (though I like to call it The Potions…er, Dance Master

Great job, everyone! I applaud you all!

* Should you decide to claim your prize, you are entitled to a Harry Potter fan fiction one-shot. You provide the pairing and/or prompt, and I provide the one-shot. I tend to write pretty fluffy stuff, but can go slightly dark when the bunnies cooperate. I’m not good at writing lol humor or explicit smut (though I can be semi-risqué when the situation calls for it). Although I’ve been pretty slow with my prizes for the winners of last contest I hosted, I’ll be out of school for three weeks, so you shouldn’t have such a wait as poor sneaky_rhae.
