Things are looking good. I was able to make some significant progress yesterday in going over my plans and charts and then doing some initial soundings. I actually was fortunate enough to look outside on the beach, and one of the gentlemen out there who I often see around the beach was holding up a sign. Amazingly, it was clear enough to read with the help of my binocular-device I've been able to construct in my spare time, and contained a bit of advice about doing soundings in the rooms on this side.
A short while later, I was able to try out this advice, and found it indeed led me to a small section on one of the furthest walls of my cell with some looser rock that looked a bit crumbly, exactly the sort of thing I've been told to look for when sounding for an escape tunnel location! I set up the primitive Sound Proximiter I found in my room a year ago, and have begun the sounding process, which should tell me in a day or two if this spot of the wall is worth beginning a break-point setup to clear the out layer.
Time seems to be passing by so quickly with my captors out of the room - it's relaxing, inspiring, and exciting - all in one! I'm particularly excited about the possibility of having found a solid sounding location so quickly - others take days and months, at times, I've heard, and sometimes even choose the wrong break-spot in the wall!
And, of course, every moment I put towards my escape efforts brings me joy, and a steadfast feeling inside, as if I am going, heading, working in a direction I was made to go in.
Meanwhile, while the Sound Proximiter runs its tests, I'm going to go over some of the maps and loose sketches I've managed to collect since coming here. It may be a bit premature to get my hopes up, but I definitely can't help feeling excited.
