So we're in the kitchen, baby is in the living room, stranded happily on his back playing with some toys.  We know he can roll from belly to back because, well, he hates being on his belly, but since he's never showed an interest in going the other way (since he knows he'd land on his tummy and hates that), we consider him still imobile.   Josh ( Read more... )

Well there's no page in the baby book for "first trip to the emergency room" so I'll have to add one.  Jacob woke up last week choking for breath.  He sounded kinda like a barking seal, it was scary. We headed into the emergency room and it seems he has Croup.  Croup is not a sickness but is a condition that happens because the baby has a cold ( ( Read more... )

Jacob is 4 months old!!!  Had is checkup last week.  he's in the 50th percentile for weight and 25th percentile for length.  According to the doctor he's not overweight,  he's just undertall.   Welcome to the short side of life baby! (more on that later though).

Jacob continues to slowly discover his hands. Last week he spent a lot of time staring at his fist and then shoving it in his mouth. This week he seems to actually be grabbing hold of things... and then shoving them into his mouth. He is learning new things every day! Jacob is getting sooo big!  He is starting to discover his hands and spends a considerable amount of time trying to get his whole fist in his mouth.   He has 3 different toys which will react when he hits/kicks them and right now he is much more interested in them than his own parents! Is it weird that Jacob loves having his diaper changed?  He can be fussy and cranky and as soon as I lay him down in the changing table he gets all smiley and happy.  He especially loves the bum drying process.  He had some pretty bad diaper rashes when we first brought him home so we we've learned to make sure his bum is completely dry before ( Read more... )

I don't want to jinx anything, but he has slept 7-8 hours for 3 of the last 4 nights.  Keeping fingers crossed for tonight!! woo hoo. 
I feel like a horrible parent because we moved him to his own room at 6 weeks, but if it caused him to sleep through the night at 7 weeks then I can deal.
