I did not get strep throat, and we all made it down to Florida and back and everything went more or less OK with some exceptions, and there are a few pictures up on Facebook if you are interested. I would normally write up a big recap but A) I do not have time right now and B) I'm kind of saving that for a different project if I can ever get around to it, so sorry!
While vacation was very nice, we had to hurry back and pretty much hit the ground running. We drove around 21 hours over two days, got home after 8pm on Sunday night, and on Monday morning I had an early doctor's appointment and Lucas had the first day of the semester. This semester his late class (late meaning he gets home around 10pm if not later) is on Monday nights, so not only did he have class, he had LATE class. We're getting our nursery furniture tonight, so there's a lot of prep that has to go into that that I've been trying to work on over the last two days, as well as unpacking from vacation and doing two weeks of laundry and trying to get meals together while having very little food in the house.
What's not helping is that I can only do so much "in my condition", as Lucas would say. I can get the laundry in and out of the washer and dryer but I can't carry the finished loads upstairs, so I can't start sorting or ironing. I got a lot of the junk in the nursery organized in piles, but I can't really move them anywhere and I can only sit on the floor for so long, so it's taken longer to get it all together. I can organize my husband's Christmas presents but I don't know where he wants them so I can't get rid of that pile, so I feel like the living room is still a huge mess. So it's a little frustrating -- I have a lot to do, but I feel like I can't get it done. I'm overwhelmed and also feeling useless at the same time. Not fun!
On the positive side, everything seems to be going well with the baby. My doctor's appointment yesterday was because at my last appointment I was measuring something like 5 weeks early, and the kid was still breech, so they wanted me to go get an ultrasound from the specialist to see what was going on. Apparently in the intervening weeks things settled down and the kid turned, so he's now head down like he's supposed to be, and I'm only measuring about a week and two days early. I didn't get great ultrasound pictures this time, but I did get to see him wiggling a bit. He very obviously has the Engelhardt nose, and a little bit of fuzzy hair that the technician pointed out, and his head is HUGE. His body is measuring in the 58th percentile, his arms and legs in the 60th, and his head in the 94th. That's hereditary -- I can't buy hats for Lucas because nothing fits his huge head, so apparently I won't be able to buy hats for my son, either. Ah well! Personality-wise he probably wouldn't be interested in hats, anyway. I think there's going to be too much of his dad in him for that. ;)
