A couple of weeks ago, I blogged about taking a stab at a writing contest. This morning, I started writing. I had forgotten how much fun it is when you have a new idea and it all seems so brilliant. Thank goodness for weekend starts! I had a mostly abysmal writing time at the Ihop midnight dash, but still managed to write more there than I usually do. I think the grand total was around 1200 before I crashed for the night. I didn't start writing again until about 2pm on Saturday, and was beginning to think I wouldn't make my self-imposed goal. Is it horrible that I'm getting misty over the last line of my story? Now *that's* romance. sniffle.

Ahh...tis finished. (And what a great song to end with - well, the title at least ;) )

I'm tantalizingly close to finishing. Rather than writing a lot of new drivel last night, I mostly worked on smoothing out the existing bits and fixing some glaring consistency errors (like my narrator having a wildly different voice between different days of writing). I'm well over 6,000 words now and think I'm seeing a logical end point soon. ( Read more... )
