Yes. It's not covered in the webcomic but it's pretty well cemented that they have two different fathers due to Tonya's older sister Tara being referred to as "half-sister" in her character page (though in practice they only refer to themselves as sisters).
Right, that makes sense that they refer to each other as sisters, I know plenty of folks in real life who do that, too. I was just asking because they look like they have different (biological) fathers.
Yep, me too. My best friend since high school had a daughter by one guy and then married a different guy and had a son. The daughter calls the son her brother, and also her dad is married and has two more daughters whom she calls her sisters. Seems clunky otherwise.
When Tonya was introduced it was briefly mentioned that she had a Korean dad and a Caucasian mom (of unspecified national origin). Her sister looks like her mom's previous mate must've been Caucasian too.
I don't read a ton of books about writing but the one I've found actually most useful (besides reference books like Writer's Market) was Stephen King's On Writing.
I am writing here instead of the thread I started in the Animorphs community, it seems we do have an awful lot in common. I checked out your website and I LOVE what you did with the series, especially the inconsistencies section and your comments there?
Lets be LJ friends? I don't write in mine nearly enough but I might try to remedy that.
Wow! Well, first, definitely let's be LJ friends. (I'm friending you now.)
Thanks for the compliments on the page--kind of impressed that you managed to find it because I buried it pretty deep and it's very new so actually yours is the first feedback I've ever had on it. Large parts of it have never been edited and I'm kind of ashamed of that because I'm an editor, but the book pages are definitely first drafts. I'm SURE they have typos.
Also I glanced through some of your more recent LJ entries and was surprised again by how many things we just happen to have in common. With the exception that I think I'm in a happier place in my life (and that's true with me when it comes to most people), a lot of the casual references and thought-captures you sprinkled around reminded me of me. I hate the idea of "ooh, we like the same stuff, we should be friends," but I think in some cases liking the same stuff is a "symptom" of being the type of person who would like those things, and that's the case this time.
Well, I am not some kind of weird stalker or anything, your homepage is listed in your profile and I just went to the site map and used the find function for "Animorphs." ;) Although I should admit that I only read half of what you wrote for inconstancies, since I am only halfway done re-reading.
Ha, I am not as sad as my journal makes me sound, the probably is the only times I usually feel any inspiration to write in it is when I am feeling unhappy. Which is probably true of a lot of people, and a little unfortunate.
I am doing the JET Program right now, and for the most part having a pretty great time living here.
It is nice to meet you as well! It isn't often that I run into someone (figuratively in this case of course) who likes so many of the same things I do.
Ha, no, I didn't think you were a "weird stalker" for being able to find my site; I just knew it was buried under a long string of links and it's not necessarily easy to figure out where the page might be. The linking path would be main page --> about me --> favorites --> books --> author fansites --> k.a. applegate, so I was impressed (no, not creeped out, haha) that you found it. I didn't think about the alternate way to get to it through the site map--good thinking. Heh
