Gotta love when babies with superpowers do weird stuff to protect themselves. . . .

Wow! Well, first, definitely let's be LJ friends. (I'm friending you now.)

Thanks for the compliments on the page--kind of impressed that you managed to find it because I buried it pretty deep and it's very new so actually yours is the first feedback I've ever had on it. Large parts of it have never been edited and I'm kind of ashamed of that because I'm an editor, but the book pages are definitely first drafts. I'm SURE they have typos.

Also I glanced through some of your more recent LJ entries and was surprised again by how many things we just happen to have in common. With the exception that I think I'm in a happier place in my life (and that's true with me when it comes to most people), a lot of the casual references and thought-captures you sprinkled around reminded me of me. I hate the idea of "ooh, we like the same stuff, we should be friends," but I think in some cases liking the same stuff is a "symptom" of being the type of person who would like those things, and that's the case this time.

So you've got a Last Unicorn icon on the side of the journal (one of my favorite movies), a Tori Amos quote attached to your main journal (yay Tori! I sometimes do covers of her!), an entry with an Ani DiFranco quote (yay Ani!), obviously the FLB quotes (I have a fansite for her too, but it's incomplete because I'm way behind on the reading), and apparently you're living in Japan . . . I've been to Japan myself but that's only because my sister lived there for eight years and I was visiting her. (She did the JET program.)

And a few of your listed interests match mine too (though I don't know if I have all of them listed because truthfully being comprehensive would be ridiculous for me): I like that you mention "being a kid" and "being weird" 'cause those two things (childlike vs. childish and eccentricity) are two topics I've written on extensively. I like musicals and lots of YA fiction too. :)

Nice to meet you.

Well, I am not some kind of weird stalker or anything, your homepage is listed in your profile and I just went to the site map and used the find function for "Animorphs." ;) Although I should admit that I only read half of what you wrote for inconstancies, since I am only halfway done re-reading.

Ha, I am not as sad as my journal makes me sound, the probably is the only times I usually feel any inspiration to write in it is when I am feeling unhappy. Which is probably true of a lot of people, and a little unfortunate.

I am doing the JET Program right now, and for the most part having a pretty great time living here.

It is nice to meet you as well! It isn't often that I run into someone (figuratively in this case of course) who likes so many of the same things I do.

Ha, no, I didn't think you were a "weird stalker" for being able to find my site; I just knew it was buried under a long string of links and it's not necessarily easy to figure out where the page might be. The linking path would be main page --> about me --> favorites --> books --> author fansites --> k.a. applegate, so I was impressed (no, not creeped out, haha) that you found it. I didn't think about the alternate way to get to it through the site map--good thinking. Heh.

I'm really glad to hear that your journal is more stacked toward sadness than you are in reality, 'cause I glanced through and saw a few things that made me think your life is really hard . . . especially since you're in another country and I know from both experience and from friends' comments that such a thing can be isolating, especially when the people you talk to about it aren't sympathetic. (Except for good ol' LJ, lol!)

Really glad you're mostly enjoying the JET program.

I like when I run into people (again, figuratively) who like stuff I do but didn't connect with me through forums or groups about those subjects. Like how I once found out one of my favorite webcomic artists is an Animorphs fan just because I ran into her fanart, or when I found a couple LJ friends who were members of groups I didn't know they were part of. It's especially cool when the things we have in common that we like are sort of rare, and disconnected from each other. Like, people who like Francesca Lia Block and people who like Animorphs aren't really the same people, but here you are. . . .

I'm hoping to have a YA book published so finding people who appreciate YA writing is really encouraging. ;)
