Am I really that immature?

Just when I thought I was actually beginning to see a glimmer of love for someone it was nipped in the bud.

I have always feared this day would come. When someone would smash through my pretenses and find that there is nothing there under the skin, under a memeorized vocabulary...there is nothing there.
