THe sign of a good rampup is when neither you, nor the staff around you, nor any volunteers appear stressed out, and everyone's having a good time. We saw, we planned, we rocked it!

I spent Tuesday sort of sobbing and wrestling with my instincts ("I can't go back to work! Wahhh! I'm a terrible mother!"). Nevermind the fact that the kid will be at work with me (and a nanny, who we're interviewing now) at least half the time, or that I live five minutes away from the office anyway...it just didn't feel right to take on any other ( Read more... )

So I am back to work on Wednesday...I feel so fortunate that I won't really be apart from my baby nearly as much as most moms ( she will share a nanny with another couple we know, and the kids will sometimes be at the office, and at first I will split days with Tom so I will only be apart from her for half-days for a while ( Read more... )

Now it's looking like I'll stay in town for Memorial Day, and head out to WY by way of the Utah burn instead, on June 3, and then hopefully take a week "off" (relative term for that Burning Man-staff-style vacation where you're not in the office but you still keep all your plates spinning by working remotely...) in Jackson Hole ( Read more... )
