[Action 1]

[As dawn sweeps across the blasted remains of Mayfield, you may find a short, fat man dressed entirely in white swaying through the rubble. At first, it might look like he's swaying due to injury and might fall, but he keeps reasserting himself. After a few moments, it becomes obvious he isn't hurt. Isn't injured in the least. [Key-Fu was just doing his manly powerwalk through the streets when he gets intercepted by the Major.]

How curious! I feel I am being caressed by a prickly pear!

[...What? What kind of reaction is that? He has no clue what to think of that. He just smiles a bit at the response.]

Indeed! It is a most prickly pear friend! It would be a shame if it pricked any further, would it not?

Quite so! Therefore I feel I must join the pavement dating service!

[And suddenly Key-Fu dives toward the ground into a tumble before whirling round to face his assailant, assuming a martial arts kata pose.]

[And that's when you'll see it, Major-Key-Fu's crosseyed, toothy grin.]

[The Major stifles a little bit of snickering, if just because he liked that joke. He raises an eyebrow at the man, before shaking his head.]

My friend, I would suggest...reassessing the situation. Before you do something you'll regret.

[Well. That's unexpected. Or is it expected? He isn't sure.

He doesn't move away from the charred corpse he's examining, and doesn't make to turn around, either. He's perfectly still.] Yes?

Nothing much friend! I simply have a dilemma.

You see, I think I might need a bit of help carrying some of the...rations, I might find. Or, in fact, I was wondering if you might have found some.

After all, in such a time...we must help one another, must we not?

I've found nothing but dust. [It's a lie, of course, though only partially; he's managed to find a knife, similar to the one pressed against him, and has it hidden in his jacket. Not that it will help him much, considering combat has never been his strongest suit.] I'm starting to think that's all that's left.

[Don't worry Crane. The Major isn't exactly the best at combat either. Though hey, at least he's letting the knife down from the back of Crane's neck.]

Indeed! It just might be!

Dust we are, and to dust do we return. A fitting end, I suppose!

[Jesus. He's practically giggling, Crane. It's just so goddamn beautiful he can't even explain it. How perfect this destruction is. How perfect this chaos is.]

[Zuko whirls, dropping defensively into a fighting stance and squaring his shoulders. That he knows this person doesn't make him safe.]

I probably have no answers for you.

Ah.

[The Major drops his makeshift knife to his side, holding up a hand in apology.]

I'm very sorry, sir. You must forgive me, as you're still...well, a bit new. I haven't gotten used to recognizing you yet.

...Really.

[Well, he lacks his telltale scar, but still. He straightens, not at ease but still willing to talk.]

Tell me what you know.

[The Major shrugs helplessly, shaking his head a little as he looks at Zuko.]

Not much, I'm afraid! I know as much as you do!

Although...the devastation looks like it would have been done by a bombing raid. Most likely nuclear.

[......

Nah, still not unnerved. Though more confused. He'll just call out so Major will take notice.]

Enjoying yourself? [Said flatly, with no real hint of scorn or amicability?]

Hell yes we can. sturmbahnfurher November 26 2011, 06:51:47 UTC
[Sorry Scratch. The Major's gone for a moment, awash in ecstasy at the sight in front of him. It isn't until he catches sight of someone else there that he comes out of the thrall he seems to be stuck in at all. He takes a moment to compose himself before, happily, shouting out.]

Lovely day, isn't it?

That is one of the ways to describe it.

[He'll shout back, though not with as much enthusiasm as Major. He's still curious about this all, despite the lack of power within him.]

You are enjoying it at least.

What is there not to enjoy?

[The Major starts to walk forward, smiling happily and arms outstretched. That anyone could show such sheer joy at so much devastation would, to most, be inconceivable.]

So few people, my friend, get to see the natural end of a species! And here we are!

[Oh, it's his good friend the Major! Surely, that sharp metal is just a friendly greeting and there is nothing suspect about this at all.]

I always got time for a brother, catastrofucker! What's on your thinkpan?

[It is the friendliest greeting. And god, he just sounds so happy.]

Mmm, not much, not much! I'm just thinking of a very interesting idea!

[They can be happy together, then! Gamzee's whole planet got destroyed, a little nuclear wasteland isn't going to bring him down.]

Yeah? Shit, hit a brother up with whatever motherfucker you got boiling up in that sponge then!

[Oh, he's so glad Gamzee. Not enough people are enjoying this.]

I think I'd like to play a game!

Tell me, tell me! What do you know of natural selection?
