Bones Canon Flub

May 15, 2008 07:21

Given how this week's episode of Bones (3.14 "The Wannabe in the Weeds") ended, and the issues trampled on the way there, it's perhaps peculiar that I'm still hung up on an exchange in the first scene, in which Brennan and Booth forget a point of their own canon.

Booth is revealed to be allergic to grass pollen, and Brennan comments that this must have been a serious impediment during his previous career as an Army Ranger sniper.  Booth replies that, hey, he had been stationed in deserts, with sand, not grass, so it had never been an issue.

But Booth is a veteran of Bosnia, not Afghanistan or Iraq!  Canon established at length and in detail -- in first season -- that Booth served primarily in the NATO effort to pacify the former Yugoslavia.  The former Yugoslavia is not a grassless desert!

I'm still meaning to play that "Name Your Special Feed" ("Your friends are not watching the same show") meme.  Until then, just Bones: the "This Was So Much Better In First Season When She Was Mulder And He Was Nick" show. :-)
