It's amazing how a visit to an old friend can make one feel refreshed and happy again. Gilderoy hadn't seen Roger in ages, and was glad of both his company and advice. That Ginger was also a wise one. Her suggestion to go adventuring while waiting for shearing time was a good one, indeed.

"Perhaps I should take Julian with me. He might like to get out and about again. Although he doesn't seem to be one to have such a taste for ad--"

Before he could finish his thought, he spotted a little bundle of energy racing up Alpha directly toward him. He couldn't help but smile as he saw her running up, giggling the whole time. "Did you come to visit Daddy at work today?" he asked, kneeling in the street, arms outstretched to catch her.

He caught his daughter in his arms and lifted her high. "I'm so glad you've come to see me." With his daughter on his hip, he opened the store, switched the sign from "closed" to "open," and set Ella down on the counter. "So, have you come here all by yourself, or is your mother coming into work today, as well

'Daddy!' Ella shouted, running straight into his outstretched arms and shrieking with delight as he lifted her up in the air. She held on tight as he opened the store and carried her inside kicked her legs in excitement as Daddy set her down.

'Mummy's sleeping,' she said happily. 'And I'm a big girl and knows magic and everything,' she continued with a proud grin.

'And Dragon helpted proteted me,' she added as Daddy looked worried. 'He needs a kiss,' she then said holding out Dragon so that daddy could kiss him.

She was sleeping? Gilderoy choked down his suspicions to give Millicent the benefit of the doubt. "Well, why didn't you wake your mummy and ask her to bring you here? I'm sure she wouldn't mind waking up for something like that."

He rustled Ella's hair and smiled at her pet dragon. "And thank you so much for protecting my darling daughter, Mr. Dragon," he said, kissing the stuffed toy on the nose.

Ella giggled as Daddy kissed Dragon and shook her head at Daddy's question about waking Mummy.

'I tried to wake Mummy but she just stayed sleeping,' she said. 'She's been really sleepy and taking lots of naps since we went to visit lady Hestia yesterday,' she added, then she giggled again.

'Mummy nearly forgetted the cloak when we goed and I was good and remembered and then we visited lady Hestia - she has a shop with lots of bottles - and then Mummy took me to get ice-cream,' she said excitedly, a wide grin on her face.

A sharp crack echoed through the air in front of the shop at Alpha and A. The sound was something of a precursor to the mood of the man who had just disapparated onto the step. Julian Avery stood before The Gildery Shoppe's door, attempting to pull his mien into something more pleasant. It had been a trying morning organising one of his gifts for Gilderoy. Alone and looking back on things now, the harassment truly wasn't the fault of anyone. He had underestimated the nature of his gift, then there had been a misunderstanding. He shouldn't be cross, but he was still rather anxious to get it off his hands.

Hopefully, Gilderoy would still love him after the unveiling.

Taking a deep breath and releasing it slowly, Julian felt sanity slowly return. It wouldn't be all that bad. It was for the shop, after all. Except... half his days were spent at the shop.

Oh gods, it was that bad ( ... )

"Aah, and what better time to ask him. That must be my darling Muffin right now," Gilderoy said, smiling up at Ella and the prospect of seeing his true love approach from behind her.

"Shall I get him a plate, as well, so he can have lunch with us?"

Gilderoy didn't wait for an answer. He prepared a plate with cheese and sausage, oranges and toast, and set it on the table between himself and miss Ella.

"We're in here, darling. Come join us for lunch," he called out to the man in the other room. Not for a moment did he consider that it might be someone else in the shop. Not with business being the way it had been.

Us? Curiosity piqued, Julian strode towards the sound of Gilderoy's voice. He smiled when he heard a familiar giggle accompanying it. Coming in, he feigned surprise at seeing Ella ( ... )

It's amazing how one little girl can completely change the attitude of men. "Oh, much better now that I have the two loves of my life here with me," Gilderoy said softly. He leaned over and quickly brushed his lips against Julian's, taking the opportunity to just quickly taste them with his tongue before sitting again ( ... )

"Well then, your wish is my command, my Princess." He kissed his little lady on the cheek, then stopped before setting her down. Julian didn't think there would be much trouble with unveiling his gift, but he wasn't certain if Ella had ever encountered one of these things before. She was bold in a way that he admired, but he wasn't sure what things scared her. Pirates didn't seem to do the trick, at least. With a smirk to that thought, he snuggled Ella closer to him ( ... )

Ella looked on with wide eyes as the house elf came inside. She'd only ever seen house elves in Socks before and now her Daddy was going to have one of his own.

She wondered if Mummy would give her a house elf.

Sighing and barely suppressing an eye roll at the elf's insistence on his title of 'master', Julian supplied, "I know how hard you've been working, love. You've been here more days than out. So I thought if you had a tailor's assistant, it would ease your stress some. I've interviewed Knobby, and she knows the basics of sewing as well as the domestic duties. She's... new to service, but she's eager to learn. I'm sure that with some supplemental lessons, she'll make a great seamstress for you. She's yours to command, at any rate." He sighed again as he felt a small, desperate tug at his leg. Now he knew how a parent felt the first day of school.

When he heard Gilderoy's command, Julian began to protest. He wasn't quick enough, however, and Knobby sniffled, then began wailing.

"OOOOoooohhhh poooor Knooobbbbby! Other master doesn't want Knoooobbby eiiittheeerrrr! Knoobbby's such a bad elffff!!" She began pulling violently on her ears, then somehow managed to wrap herself around Julian's leg and chew on her ear at the same ( ... )
