Finished my first pass on tightening and streamlining "Mother of Exiles" and I've got it down to 6,500 words. Waiting on edits from Ideomancer and comments from writing group on ways they believe I can tighten it down further.

No idea as to when the story will come out. Maybe this coming quarter, maybe next. Looking forward to seeing it out.

I'm looking at a busy last half to the week.

1) Critique submissions for next Monday's writing group meeting.

I'm about 15 pages from finishing the first part of my final pass through the manuscript. I'll reach the end of part one tonight, which comes to approximately 107 pages -- prologue and four chapters. She's in fine form today. Cruel and demanding and she makes me love her. As I should. I wrote the three-word sentence that sets the stage for the next book.

Playing with titles again. Fallen isn't as attractive as it was when I started. And the short story title sounds awkward when applied to a novel. I know it's possible. Long titles aren't bad, ( Read more... )

Two days past 90 and I'm finally through all the rewrite material. Sitting on page 452. The prior draft was 450 pages. I'd say I'm probably a fifth or a quarter into the last chapter. Which is about 24 pages long so far. So 75 to 100 more pages? Nah, can't be that much more. Except, Rule #3* is still in effect. So ... make it a minimum of 50 pages ( Read more... )
