I'm about 15 pages from finishing the first part of my final pass through the manuscript. I'll reach the end of part one tonight, which comes to approximately 107 pages -- prologue and four chapters. Not bad for two days work. The second part is twice as long, and the last part has a comparable length. So, week's end is the projected goal to apply the last polish.
It's actually fascinating, reading through at speed. I've added a line or two and gained a page, and whittled in other spots, losing a page. I think of it like a jigsaw puzzle; I'm smoothing out the joins so the cuts don't show. I know the process will continue past this point (at least, that's my hope), and the book isn't truly finished until it appears in print. I'm still satisfied, though.
