Some leather help (first time poster)

Sep 29, 2010 18:01

I'm hoping that anyone in the community can give me a bit of help. I have roughly four  twenty square feet of tanned deerskin leather, as shown. This also includes the leather thong I have and the imitation sinew I want to use. However, I'm not really sure what to do.

EDIT: Have a lot more tanned hide than I had initially thought, so that gives me plenty of leeway. Also, thank you kindly to everyone who has given me their two-cents thus far. More would be appreciated!

Known:
1. I maintain two different steampunk outfits, male and female.
2. The leather is soft and malleable with a suede side, made specifically for clothing. Sadly, I don't have the resources to do much in the way of a hat.
3. My first thought is waistcoat, but a bodice would be just as useful. Either way, I really need a good pattern.
4. If I can salvage enough leather for two pieces of clothing, AWESOME!
5. I'm hoping to use everything, including the trimmings and the little bits that can't really be converted into anything useful. So maybe using the trimmings for some sort of stuffing or using it for my kitties.

Here are both pieces of the leather with the thong and the imitation sinew
