Ya rly.

I've decided that my new town is rather charmingly bizarre. Some things that occurred over the weekend, to illustrate:

+ I noticed that there are giant forests of thistles here. I have never seen anything like them before -- literally, huge swaths of purply-brown spiky plants that are taller than I am, popping up from the middle of nowhere. I will take some pictures soon.

+ When we got back from church yesterday, we found a ceramic plate sitting in the middle of our driveway. There was a half-eaten burrito on it. We have no idea where the hell this could have come from, as we haven't had Mexican food in two weeks.

+ There's a clock tower in the square that we can hear from our house on the hill. The carillion plays a different song at noon each day. Yesterday it was "Camptown Races." Today it was "Oh My Darling Clementine." I find this utterly hilarious.

+ Grace and I went for a walk to go get lunch at the hot dog and ice cream stand down the road. On our way home, we heard someone randomly start practicing their trumpet somewhere outside. Our giggles pretty much dissolved into hysterics when, after a little warm-up toodling, the musician in question burst into a spectacular rendition of Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie" that echoed through the streets.

Also, pics of the house coming soon -- it turns out that I don't need my missing SD card reader after all, as I can just insert the card itself directly into the laptop. My life just got a million times easier. :D

move, randomness
