[A rather tall man stumbled out of the shadows that graced the alley between two buildings. The former general had been nearly certain that when everything had vanished into the that suffocating darkness that he would never see any light again. The fact he had somehow been released from it or somehow had managed to escape was overshadowed rather ( Read more... )

[Was that who he thought it was?

...

As much as he hated to admit it, there was no mistaking the guy for anybody else. But...how?! Zack ignored the logic that told him that Cloud didn't remember going to Nibelheim, so of course it was totally plausible that Sephiroth would be walking around as fresh as a daisy.

But still! He couldn't - this didn't - ]

Sephiroth?!

[Good to know he wasn't the only survivor it would appear, if Zack is quick enough to catch sight of it, there's some subtle relief that Zack is here and alive with him in this place.]

Yes, Zack?

[Zack is too busy freaking to catch that relief, unfortunately. His mouth opens and closes a few times like he's about to say something, but it's a good thirty seconds before he actually gets the words here.]

How did you get here?!

[Cloud couldn't believe what he was seeing. How could that man be here?! He had defeated him! How could he have clawed his way back from whence he came and-]

Sephiroth!

[He was also mentioning a world that sounded familiar and for once, he wasn't looking for Cloud. It confused the blond and made him angry all at once.]

What are you doing here?! Answer me!

[Well that was unexpected and it took him a moment to figure out just whom the blond addressing him had to be, but even after his memory gave him the name he had his doubts. For one thing the young man carrying that name had been rather younger and smaller in size. Still there was only one man he knew of with that particular hair style, even if the blond was giving him one rather hostile look currently.]

I have no answers for you Strife.

Don't lie to me!

[What? No taunts? Cloud can't help but be even more confused and even a little out of his element. Sephiroth always made him yell and get a migraine because of the taunting and the Darkness.]

I defeated you months ago. How'd you escape the Darkness again?

[A pale eyebrow lifts slightly in response to the yell and then the rest of the statement.]

I have no reason to lie, what would it gain me to do so?

We've never fought, so I don't see how you can claim that you defeated me. As for how I escaped from the Darkness which claimed my world, I do not know.

[He doesn't know why he says anything. Probably because he can.]

You're taking this calmly.

It would serve no purpose to rant and rave like a fool over something I obviously have no control over.

It doesn't serve a purpose, but it can make you feel better.

[Forgive him for this next question, but he doesn't exactly see the logic in your words.]

How would it do that?

[Oh good, another calm one. It's so much easier when they're calm.]

Sir? I apologize, I'm not from your world. But if I can assist you in finding anyone, or answer any questions for you, I'd be happy to do as much.

Thank you for the offer of aid miss. Perhaps you can tell me just what the survivors are supposed to do here? Is there any possibility of restoring the world that was lost or are we merely to make the best of it in this place? [Why yes, he is already thinking ahead on what he's going to do with himself once he's got himself situated and oriented on just where he is and what to expect of this new world he's in. If possible he'd rather currently return to familiar surroundings however unpleasant the situation there had been. It had been home still after all.]

[Lili could really get used to manners like these.]

As it stands, there are currently people out trying to gather information about these worlds and how we can win our own back from the darkness. It's slow-going, as the natives are rather tight-lipped, and it feels as if we're looking for a needle in a haystack, but we have at least been told that our worlds can and will one day be restored. Though how long that might take... I cannot say.

For example, the world I'm living on now, Radiant Garden, was once the capital of Light, then fell to Darkness, and was recently restored.

[But she's dangerously close to going off on a tangent, so she corrals herself back in line.]

As far as what can be done to help... The King has placed some on assignments to various worlds, such as myself. But if you'd rather not commit yourself to such an obligation, the Heartless--the beasts the Darkness takes physical form in--can be fought.

At least there is the possibility of restoration then, even if I might not actually see it restored personally. [A small comfort but he'll take what he can get currently, he's also used to being being rather tight-lipped.]

The beasts are the moving shadows yes? It is good to have a name for them now. I fought none too few of them before my arrival here, they ended up making up in numbers what they seem to lack in strength.

I'm willing enough to take orders depending on what those orders are, where might I meet this King?

[It would be something to keep himself busy with once he'd gotten the lay of the land and it might even help in the long run with this restoration effort the lady spoke of.]

S-Sir! Infantryman Strife reporting.

[Nearly dropping the communicator in his hands..]

If I might say so, Sir, I'm glad to see you're safe.

[Now there is the blond he actually knew from before and fortunately a civil greeting from the boy, which really just made him that much more confused on the issue of the elder version of the blond and why he'd given him such hostility.]

Thank you, Strife. I'm glad to see you're safe as well.

You may stand down and relax, it would seem we'll be off-duty here since the company we serve is no longer in existence.

T-thank you, Sir.

[Calling him by name just seemed too informal, it'd be hard to break that habit.]

I believe you're in a place called Traverse Town. [So he's probably been told several times.] There are other worlds, ones that haven't been taken. Strange places.

[He understands the fact that he likely won't be getting called by name by the boy for awhile no matter the assurance it's alright to do so now so he let's it go for now. There's more interesting things at hand anyway, like the aforementioned worlds that the boy has brought to his attention.]

Oh? Have you personal experience of these other worlds or is the knowledge second-hand?
