Boycotting Carls Jr.

Aug 30, 2007 14:36

A letter I just sent to Carl's Jrs (CKE Restaurants) via their comment form.

I am finally moved to tell your company that your latest "Flat Buns" commercial is so offensive to me, and to my family, that we will never eat at your restaurants again. Yes, this is a boycott.

While I, as a former business person, understand your need to market to the sexual male of around 14-18 years of age or lower, or those whose mentality equates that age, you seem to forget that women, namely MOTHERS, are the ones who often decide for their families where to eat. Since your raunchy commercials have started (especially the Paris Hilton/Car escapade), I have rarely eaten at a Carl's Jr., when at one time Carl's Jr was a favorite of mine.

With the latest commercials, which I find sexist and visually annoying, not to mention grating on my ears with the rap music, my husband, my son, my daughter and I, or anyone who wants to enjoy a meal with us, will not partake from your restaurant. As stated before, we are boycotting your restaurants, and taking our money elsewhere.

Sincerely,
K. Small

Why? Because I hate their latest commercial, which aired on one of the cartoon networks we watch. Thankfully Cam wasn't in the room, but the visuals with the teacher, their flattening of her anatomy, and the horrid rap music was just too much to deal with. The ads with Paris Hilton was bad enough to make me stop going except once in awhile, but this new one made me want to tell them exactly why we no longer eat at their restaurant.

Yes, WE, as my husband isn't crazy about their ad campaigns anymore, either.

As I said in my statement to them, I know they are targeting the young males of the audience, but when the women decide where to take their families for a meal, it will NOT be Carl's Jr in my home.

If you feel the same way, please let them know. If you don't feel the same, that's cool, too. Each to their own opinions.
