Coming back from dropping off Cam at school, I watched as a lightening bolt hit the ground just southeast of my car about a mile.
Crazy weather, when it is raining with lightening and thunder, in August, in California's Central Valley!! We are a desert, with minimal if any rains in the summer. And expected high today was supposed to be 108!! At least it is cooler, if rather muggy and wet, and only 85 while it continues to rain. So this afternoon may get really nasty feeling.
So, I've now unplugged my computer, and this is running on battery, so I won't be online much today. I've got lots of kitchen cleaning to work on anyways.
Oh, and my Collegium Caidis registration is now in the mail. I will be taking a couple of hat classes, even 15th century, since I am curious about the progression of the hoods/beguins and other forms from that time frame into the 16th century. And of course the French hood history class, tho not practicum. Other classes include early 16th century dancing, Exchequer class, the Uncial Hand for scribal stuff, Pearl & Bead knotting, so I can make better necklaces and such, and Heraldic Persona so I can figure out what kind of device would best suit my character's persona (or mine, since I've yet to develop a "persona"). Yeah, I could have taken the Persona Development class, but it's at the same time as the Heraldic Persona class at the beginning hour. And for me, the SCA is more about what I am learning, not what character I am playing. I did characters enough in faire, in gaming, and in larp.
And I did do some work on my French hood yesterday, getting the fabrics prepped, the gold organza and linen coif cut, and started to sew, but I didn't have much time to do this, as my room is a mess again, and my stuff scattered all over. I need to re-org that room yet again, putting things back where it should that I took out when I went to Costume College!! But it was nice to sew on my machine again. I rather missed its hum.
Well, off to work on the kitchen, and play with Maurelle.
