My weekend

Feb 25, 2007 18:54

I am a bit bored today. I wanted to go outside and do some gardening, but the rain has been on and off all day. And I am cold.

Yesterday I had lots to do. Our barony's first event, Chivalry Tourney happened and we had a good turnout. I arrived late (I am not going to rush having breakfast and getting my son ready to go), but still managed to make opening court. It was good to chat with the locals and watch the men bash each other (and the few women including the former Queen, Sir Kolfinna, iirc, don't ask me what other titles she holds). Among those who lost early, in grand melee Sir Fransisc won the cloak prize. I got to spend a little time doing some illumination work (on a charter), although my hands got cold in the shade so it was hard to paint properly. I also spent time with my son at the play area of the park, and he made a friend in the SCA, while I made friends with the boy's mother (don't ask me how to spell her name, it's Gaelic). I even ate a bite of chocolate brownie, and gave the rest of the small piece to my son to enjoy. Boy that one small piece was very sweet, now that I don't eat anything really sweet. We left early because I wanted to buy some Butterick patterns for mundane garb while they were on sale at Joann's before our dinner & game.

Last night we had our AD&D game, and it was good and enjoyable. Dinner was good if a bit peppery, but the kids were cranky. We managed to save 20 people from being sacrified to Orcus the Demon prince. I then promptly crashed after the game.

Today, since I am still on hold for sewing, I decided to pull out my illumination cart of things, and spent a few hours this afternoon painting. I am almost done with the charter and it is looking pretty nice. Just need to paint in a few more places, do another coat or two on the metals, then outline mark the black lines in where I went over the lines and I will be done! I just hope I don't misplace this one as well, like I did one other almost done charter {grrrrrr}.

And now my hubby is making our final dinner on P1. Boy are we glad because we were getting tired of the same old things. He spent this afternoon shopping online at a store or two, getting low carb substitute goods for things like maple syrup, almond flour, sugerless fruit preserves, etc. They even have a low-sugar brownie mix I can't wait to try, and chocolate chip cookies!! I know, it's for here and there in the meal plan as a treat, but at least it will be relatively guilt free treats. I only hope they taste good.

Tomorrow night... Curry on wild rice (or maybe bulga wheat). I have missed my curry on rice dish, as it is my favorite dish that my Mom would make for me, so it's a comfort food. Just have to see if yams will hold up to boiling (I've only ever baked them), or if we will have to sub the potatoes with cauliflower.
