I am very happy right now. I actually managed to cut out, sew up, trim, clip, turn and press one whole garment piece in just a few hours. It was a simple partlet, with just wool fashion fabric and silk taffeta lining. It still needs hooks and eyes hand sewn into place, but it is otherwise DONE!!!
Its been a long time since I've worked on something that I could actually do in one night. I am wondering if it needs some interlining or something to keep the collar upright, but for now, this weekend, it will do just fine.
And since it was so easy to make up, I plan on making another in the future in black velvet, and maybe even do some whitework or blackwork on the lining. But that's for later this year... oh, and must make a silk or fine linen partlet for summer coverings. I am thinking fine linen, as I don't know how well I will like silk against the skin on a hot summer day.
Tomorrow I plan on doing all the handwork that's been piling up. Shirt h&e, partlet h&e, French hood strap with h&e, and must remember to make a new sash in the wool, and sew on the gold cross to one end. I also have to dig that up from the bedroom where I saw it last.
And I will get good photos of me on Saturday, and hopefully post them sometime Sunday night.
Edit: I changed the title, because it was not a linen partlet. I shouldn't write these things when I am tired, late at night.
