At this weekend's annual Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, the JJ Abrams-helmed sequel - lauded for its cinematography, strong performances and action scenes -  was voted the worst Star Trek movie of the entire canon by avid Trekkies.

Really?  This makes no sense to me.  Discuss!

Has any one read the novel version of the film? I admit I liked the first novel it was a great read and it explained so many things about some scenes in the first film for instance why uhura was on the transporter pad ,although in the film it just felt as if she went there to kiss spock. the novel actually stated that she was actually helping him ( Read more... )

There might be some new or returning to the fandom thanks to the new movie and want to write Spock/Uhura. Maybe they haven't seen the TOS or only the new movie and don't know where to start? Maybe they don't think something they wrote would be good enough ( Read more... )

OHMIGOSH. I've pretty much watched it at least 30 times and hypervenihilate at some very great scenes. My heart can't wait till May!
