Hello, and welcome back to roundtable's monthly prompt-and-fill! [This one is totally dedicated to Gavin DeGraw. Don't judge me.]
Each month, we are happy to pay homage to the brilliant creative devise in fandom known as the commentfic meme. Here, will throw down a theme designed to span both SPN & RPF genres. We will then ask you, the participant, to prompt your fellow writers & artists with ideas, au tropes, lines of song/verse, a line of dialogue, word banks, some scene you are dying to read, etc.
After you've prompted, fill someone else's prompt! The idea is to stretch your mind as far as you need; to feel free to respond with any idea at all. It's a way to jog your creativity, to keep its action clicking in some small way.
Responses are completely open, so think wide broad and deep: a sentence, drabble, paragraph, 5k, fanmix, vid, painting, photo edit, macro, manip, icon set, stick figure comic, ms paint drawing, dialogue exchange, haiku, limerick, etc. would not be out of place here!

promote on your flist, and get others to join in!
The power of the human mind could probably power a small moon, if only we could figure out how to plug it in. I'm going cerebral this month. Sorry.
So much of the way we live our lives and evolve our behaviors comes from the belief systems we develop as we mature. The nature of a belief is that it may not have any proof of evidence that it is real, but our conviction brings it to life, and we hold it as truth.
We collect beliefs as we go; some we scrap, some we build on and expand as we get older. Some were given to us -- or beat into us -- by our families as children; others, parting wisdom from mentors, teachers, therapists, friends. Usually when we think about "beliefs" we go to those of a spiritual or political nature because they tend to be the most ardently acted upon, in recent times (and maybe a lot of us developed some beliefs while obsessively watching the Daily Show through all four years of college.)
The point of all this is that beliefs are not TRUTH, FACT, or ABSOLUTE, and yet we often act on them as if they are. We use them to make decisions about people, relationships, difficult choices, etc., and sometimes to our detriment because our beliefs are so strong we fail to consider other possibilities:
Maybe Dean doesn't know Sam inside and out the way he "knows" he does.
Maybe Jensen isn't as honest with himself as he thinks he is.
Maybe that dickish senior always giving Jared dirty looks could be into him.
Maybe Ellen isn't better off alone.
But then; maybe Castiel's belief that he is the new God is so strong it can't be undone.
And maybe John's belief in his boys was completely merited, and they will leave a Winchester legacy to be remembered forever.
Now, prompt! And then fill! Multiple fills on the same prompt are welcomed!
