Oh well, the world will end soon enough. :-p  Just as seriously though NASA TV did a good job covering the eclipse. I just wish I was able to get some glasses to view it directly and that I could have gotten at least a couple of decent pics. Oh well. Can't have everything. :-)

Its just a video showing a size comparison of the universe but its so mind warpingly beautiful.

What can I say? I'm a nerd who finds this stuff fascinating.

First I'm thankful that no one was killed by that meteor today in Russia because that would have made a very cool science story almost unbearably tragic. Luckily this meteor was so well sized it was like Weight Watchers for news junkies. I can watch as many videos of the destruction as I want without anymore guilt than usual ( Read more... )

Those are the words I'd be screaming if I was in this Russian's car. Apparently this was a small meteor that caused this much damage. Reports on casualties are varying from 150 to 500 injured but thankfully so far I haven't read of any deaths ( Read more... )

I've got a large, non-twinkling, yellowish light, low on the horizon ENE of my position. Any sky watchers in Canada/England/Northern Europe seeing it? It's not moving at all so I'm thinking its a planet. Any idea which one?

Granted to me "UFO" means "Unidentified Flying Object" and NOT "Little Green Men". I'm pretty sure that what I saw was just a very bright satellite, and not the results of intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic gazing upon us with envious eyes, drawing their plans against us. *
