Huge turn in the weather the past week now. We went from highs in the 50's to high's in the 80's and close to 90 a few times. The trees and flower are just exploding with color..., and pollen. Seriously. The pine pollen is thick this year. Usually it just coats everything lightly with yellow dust for a week or two. This weekend it was like a ( Read more... )

I think this is the snowiest winter we've had yet in North Carolina. 3 storms within 3 weeks. Today's storm was a bit of a surprise, but it looks like old man winter is still firmly in control. This snow is particularly pleasant. Our fist snow was followed by a lot of sleet and wind which pretty much sand blasted all the snow off the trees. ( Read more... )

In the midst of my multitasking today from 0745 until 1745, it was so welcome to step out the door into this shockingly, cooler weather. Hard to believe the highs were only in the 70's and low humidity. I actually got out and walked on campus between ITS Manning and ITS Franklin (about 20-25 minutes). The breeze was great. The new PC I got back in January came with Windows Vista so I stuck with that. This is what I use to run my Quicken stuff (still sucks on Mac) and primarily my weather station. While I did get used to the cold while in Jackson Hole, my resistance quickly faded when I got back to NC. Definitely been a chilly week with most morning in the teens and highs in the 30's. However, that all changes today. We started off with a low of 27.2°F and it's now 63.1°F and still rising rapidly according to home weather station data. ( Read more... )

I made it into work this morning with no problems as 90% of the roads were dry. There was hardly any traffic on the roads too, so yesterday's snow fiasco likely scared the idiots to stay home--yay for me.
