Got out earlier this morning and got a full day in this time. By 4:00pm, I was done. Actually rode the gondola back down the mountain instead of riding down. In the afternoon the trails start to get icy and with my rubbery legs that was an ugly accident waiting to happen.
Only had a few minor incidents today. One I got into some trees and the brush got unexpectedly thick and ended up side swiping a small tree with my ribs (just a tiny bruise). On another run there was some ice at the end and I completely blew it out and landed right on my ass--all of my weight just on the left side.
Overall, this mountain sill lacks snow coverage. They definitely need some more snowfall. I hit some of the tougher stuff on the north side and hit quite a few rocks. As I tune my snowboard for tomorrow, I can see the damage the board sustained. I have several long gouges that got down into the p-tex, but not the base. Edges have burrs all over. Got the burrs filed out, but I left my wax and iron at home, so the p-tex repairs will have to wait for now. If it's really bad by the end of tomorrow, I may seek an overnight shop to fix the board for the last day.
Weather is still the same. It was 12°F this morning, but at one of the peaks of the mountains it was 40°F. I forgot there was a temperature inversion and this clearly confirms it. At the base the temperature never got above 24°F. No wind, no clouds. Ended up opening vents in jacked and helmet to keep from getting too warm.
Taking full day of lessons tomorrow to get some help with problem areas, and then on my own again all day on Friday. If my legs can just hold out...
